Job Description

As a host, your responsibility includes a warm greeting, escorting guests to their tables, or making them feel comfortable while they wait for a table. Host/Hostess must be motivated, enthusiastic and highly personable. Hosts are outgoing and able to promote a fun atmosphere. Hosts market the restaurant to new and potential guests by setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience.

 

Requirements

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED are preferred, but not required.  Previous experience as a hostis preferred, but not required.  Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English.  Must be able to work well under pressure and be self-motivated.  Must have good organizational, time management and sales skills.  Good communication skills—both written and verbal.  Must be dependable, reliable and be driven with minimal supervision.  Must possess a high level of awareness, attention to detail and follow-through.  Must be both effective and efficient at multi-tasking in pressure situations.

Physical & Cognitive Requirements

Position requires sitting, handling, eye-hand coordination, stooping, kneeling, and walking/standing for multiple hours in succession.  This position may on occasion require the lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing of up to approximately 21-50lbs.  Must be able to withstand changes to temperature, occasional smoke, steam and heat.  Must be able to work in a confined area for multiple hours in succession.

Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear effectively with surrounding background noise.  Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Must possess adequate sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations, distinguish product taste, texture, temperature, presentation and preparation.  Must be able to add, subtract, multiple and divide at a basic level.
